Buffalo @ Houston(-2.5):
This is going to be an interesting one. I don’t have confidence in either one of these teams week to week. The Bills defense keeps them in the game, but their offense isn’t much to write home about most weeks. The Texans are all over the place. They beat the Patriots and then were demolished by the Broncos. I’m picking the Bills to pull off the upset in this one because they’ve played well against more difficult opponents in the past month, but I’m not confident in the pick.
Tennessee @ New England(-4.5):
The Patriots are no longer a shoe-in to make it to the Super Bowl. They had an impressive run, but my guess is that it’s nearing the end. After home losses to both the Dolphins and the Chiefs in the past month, I’m not sold on the Patriots winning against this tough Titans team. The Titans have a successful run game anchored by rushing title winner Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill has been the surprise of the season. The Titans were 7-3 this year after Tannehill took over. Screw it, I’m picking the Titans. I’m going bold here in the first week of the playoffs. I might pay for it, but the payoff would be worth it.
I was right! The payoff was totally worth it! I picked the Pats to lose and they did! Granted, I also picked the Bills to win and Josh Allen really did everything he could at the end of the 4th to lose the game but they somehow went into OT. One and one coming out of the first day of the playoffs and it was an exciting one. The Texans/Bills game went into OT and was filled with action despite an overall lack of scoring. Then the Patriots lost to the Titans IN FOXBOROUGH! Derrick Henry was an absolute monster and the Patriots clearly didn’t know how to stop him. Great first day, let’s hope for more excitement tomorrow! (Except for the Eagles game. Let’s hope the Eagles blowout the Seahawks. I don’t think my heart can handle any other outcome.)
Playoff Record 1-1
Minnesota @ New Orleans(-7.5):
The Saints offense is so powerful that I don’t think the 7.5 point spread is enough for this game. I don’t think the Vikings stand a chance and personally, I enjoy seeing Kirk Cousins lose. Bonus, I love seeing the Vikings fans on Twitter after they lose. Drew Brees is going to throw for 300+ yards and Michael Thomas will shred this defense. Maybe Alvin Kamara will even come back from the dead.
Seattle @ Philadelphia(+1.5):
Home dogs you say? I love it. That’s a position where the Eagles thrive. The Eagles have already lost to the Seahawks this year, but they’ve had quite a few injuries since then and the Eagles have only improved by bringing up young players who are playing harder than their predecessors. Greg Ward has stepped up big time and Miles Sanders has made a case for Offensive Rookie of the Year. You can never count out Russell Wilson, no matter what. It doesn’t matter that he doesn’t have Chris Carson or Rashad Penny, he can still make it work. The Eagles defense is going to have to be top notch to stop Russell Wilson, but I have faith that the Philly crowd can propel the Eagles to victory. E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!
